Kan Daanz passed at 2:32 today • He was a wonderful 24 year old Arabian • 07/04/1992 to 04/09/2017
On April 9, 2017 Chris had to put her Arabian Kan Daanz down. KD had rolled in the pasture and couldn't get up.He hadn't done this for 7 months and luckily we were able to get him up that time. He'd been having problems for a couple of years and we had cameras to keep an eye on him. We were in Austin when a neighbor called. KD's Farrier & a Vet from Elgin came out, but Chris could tell it was time.
Kan Daanz won a tri-state championship at 3 in 1995 and then was sold and bounced around until he was won in poker game in 1997. At that point KD was put out by himself with cattle for 6 years. Then he didn't make the $400 reserve 2 auctions and ended up in Houston at a rescue/reseller where Chris' friend Dominique found him listed online in June, 2006. Chris was looking for a riding horse and companion for Dancer who later passed away in 2014.
Chris changed the rest of KD's life to the best it could be and he her's. Chris has always spent hours every day with her horses and I would go out with her most evening to tuck them in, or help with them if she was gone. You become so attached when they are so giving. Kan Daanz, as all our four legged friends, was family. KD would take dog cookies from me when I didn't have carrots. He was majestic to me. Always proud and beautiful when he stood, trotted, or ran - tail high and as Chris says his head would go up ten feet tall.
Chris is riding her Quarter horse Taffie as often as she can. As the Queen's still riding at 90, Chris plans to do the same.
Chris promised Kan Daanz when he arrived in June 2006 that he would never have to leave. Chris kept her promise! Kan Daanz was buried beside Rain Dancer in their pasture.

Chris was looking for a horse that she could continue to ride when Dancer was no longer an option. Dominique began looking and found Kan Daanz near Houston.
